The automotive
Wiring Harness is the core component of the automotive circuit. Like "blood vessels and nerves", it connects the various electronic and electrical components of the car to ensure the stable transmission of power and signals. Its application range covers almost all parts of the car involving electronic control and power supply, which can be specifically divided into the following systems and parts:
1. In the engine compartment
The engine compartment is one of the most complex areas for the distribution of automotive wiring harnesses. It needs to withstand high temperature, vibration and oil pollution. It mainly connects the following components:
Engine control system: connects the engine ECU (electronic control unit), fuel injector, ignition coil, throttle position sensor, crankshaft position sensor, camshaft position sensor, etc., responsible for the core functions of the engine such as fuel injection and ignition control.
Cooling system: connects water temperature sensor, electronic fan controller, thermostat actuator, etc. to regulate the engine cooling temperature.
Intake/exhaust system: connects air flow meter, intake pressure sensor, oxygen sensor, turbocharger controller, etc. to optimize intake efficiency and exhaust emissions.
Starting and charging system: connects starter, generator, battery to achieve engine starting and power recovery storage.
2. In the cockpit
The wiring harness in the cockpit needs to take into account the accuracy of signal transmission and the compactness of space layout, and is mainly distributed in:
Dashboard area: connect the instrument panel (tachometer, speedometer, fuel gauge and other pointers or LCD display units), steering wheel control buttons (volume, cruise, phone, etc.), central control display, air conditioning control panel, lighting control switch (headlights, turn signals, fog lights, etc.).
Seat area: connect the electric seat adjustment motor (front and back, height, backrest angle), seat heating/ventilation module, seat belt sensor (detect whether the seat belt is fastened).
Safety system: connect the airbag ECU, collision sensor (front and back, left and right of the vehicle body), airbag generator, and trigger the airbag in the event of a collision.
Comfort configuration: connect the window lift motor (four doors), central lock motor, rearview mirror adjustment (electric folding, heating), wiper motor and sensor (automatic wiper).
3. External body
The external wiring harness of the body needs to adapt to the outdoor environment (wind, rain, dust, temperature changes), mainly including:
Lighting system: connect the control lines of the headlights (high/low beam, daytime running lights), turn signals (front and rear), brake lights, reversing lights, license plate lights, and fog lights.
Body sensor: connect the reversing radar sensor, reversing image camera, blind spot monitoring sensor (BSD), lane departure warning camera, etc. to assist driving safety.
Charging interface: the fast charging/slow charging interface wiring harness of new energy vehicles, connecting the battery management system (BMS) and charging module.
4. Chassis and transmission system
The chassis wiring harness is responsible for key functions such as power transmission and driving control, and needs to withstand high-frequency vibration:
Transmission control system: connect the transmission ECU, shift solenoid valve, and vehicle speed sensor to achieve automatic shift control (AT/CVT/DCT and other transmissions).
Braking system: connect ABS (anti-lock braking system)/ESP (electronic stability program) ECU, wheel speed sensor, brake pressure sensor, and electronic handbrake motor.
Suspension system: connects the control motor and height sensor of air suspension/adaptive suspension to adjust the body posture and shock absorption effect.
Four-wheel drive system: connects the four-wheel drive control unit, transfer case motor, and drive shaft sensor (some models).
V. Parts unique to new energy vehicles
Compared with traditional fuel vehicles, new energy vehicles (pure electric/hybrid) have added wiring harnesses related to batteries and motors:
Power battery system: connects the battery cells, battery management system (BMS), and high-voltage relays in the battery pack to transmit high-voltage electricity and battery status signals (voltage, temperature, SOC, etc.).
Drive motor system: connects the motor controller (MCU), drive motor, and reducer to transmit high-voltage electricity and motor control signals (speed, torque).
High-voltage power distribution system: connects high-voltage distribution boxes (PDU), DC-DC converters (convert high voltage to low voltage to power on-board electrical appliances), on-board chargers (OBC) and other high-voltage components.
